Morocco’s Domestic Air Travel Surges as Passenger Numbers Climb

The statistics from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics prove it. Domestic air traffic in Morocco is booming.
Air transport is seeing its number of passengers grow. This is evidenced by the figures communicated by Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, during his participation in the oral question session at the House of Representatives. The airports of Morocco welcomed, in 2024, around 32 million passengers, including both foreign tourists and travelers on domestic routes, he specified. This growth is not about to stop. According to the minister, the kingdom’s airports should welcome around 60 million passengers by 2030, and 90 million passengers by 2035.
Domestic air transport, supervised by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, is mainly aimed at connecting the twelve regions of the Kingdom and encouraging transport between airports and cities, Kayouh also specified, noting that a system based on financial support has been put in place in order to offer preferential rates to passengers. To achieve this, Kayouh’s department is already taking certain actions, including the signing of six agreements within the framework of the partnership agreement concluded between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the regional territorial councils concerned and the national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM).
These agreements concern the routes connecting Casablanca to Dakhla with a frequency of 14 weekly flights, Casablanca-Laâyoune with 14 weekly flights, Rabat-Laâyoune, launched two weeks ago with a frequency of two flights per week, Agadir-Laâyoune-Dakhla with 4 weekly flights, Casablanca-Guelmim-Tan-Tan with 5 weekly flights, Casablanca-Guelmim with 2 weekly flights and Casablanca-Errachidia with 7 weekly flights.
