Airport Altercation: Marseille’s Star Defender Shows Grace Under Pressure
The departure for the international break was eventful for Nayef Aguerd on Monday. While he was at Marignane airport, the Moroccan defender was the target of an individual with an aggressive behavior. His reaction to the incident was particularly noteworthy.
The scene took place in the VIP lounge of the airport. The Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd was about to take off when, according to BFM Marseille Provence, a man approached him for a selfie. The situation quickly got out of hand. The individual, described by witnesses as "unbalanced", would then have tried to slap the defender before fleeing.
While the aggressor was restrained and then arrested by the police, all eyes turned to the player’s reaction. Far from giving in to provocation, Nayef Aguerd showed remarkable composure. Eager to join the Atlas Lions for the international break, he chose to ignore the incident and not file a complaint immediately in order not to fuel the controversy.
Arrived this summer from West Ham, Nayef Aguerd has quickly established himself as a key member of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, appreciated for his defensive solidity and his calm, a quality he has once again demonstrated in the face of this assault.
