Injury of Nayef Aguerd: OM and Morocco collaborate to save his 2025 AFCON
There is great concern surrounding the health condition of Nayef Aguerd as the Africa Cup of Nations approaches. A pillar of the Moroccan defense and Olympique de Marseille, the player is in a race against time to treat a persistent injury, forcing the medical staff of his club and national team to work closely together.
The alarm was raised when the 29-year-old player was substituted due to injury against Brest, victim of a relapse of his groin injury. His coach at OM, Roberto De Zerbi, had not hidden his concern, stating that it was "necessary for him to stop a bit". The situation is even more critical for Morocco as the national team must already do without Achraf Hakimi, making Aguerd’s presence essential.
Aware of the importance of the 2025 AFCON for the player, which is taking place in Morocco, Olympique de Marseille has adopted a collaborative approach. The club has confirmed that it "will not try to hold him back". According to Footmercato, the Marseille staff is actively working with the Moroccan medical team to establish an adapted care program. The common goal is to do everything possible to ensure that the defender is "100% fit" at the start of the continental competition.
