CAN 2025 : Concern for the Moroccan team
The Moroccan national team is preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations, but the infirmary is filling up at a critical moment. The duo Sofyan Amrabat and Sofyan El Karouani have suffered worrying injuries with their clubs this weekend, adding to a list of absences that is increasingly worrying the staff of Walid Regragui.
The incidents that occurred on the European pitches have plunged the technical staff into a state of waiting. Sofyan Amrabat had to leave his teammates prematurely during the match against Utrecht, being substituted as early as the 15th minute after a violent collision with his teammate Isco. Appearing to be in pain, he was unable to continue the match.
For his part, Sofyan El Karouani was forced to give way at half-time following a head trauma caused by a collision with his own goalkeeper. The two internationals now have to undergo medical examinations to assess the severity of their injuries and the duration of their unavailability.
These potential new absences come in an already delicate context for the Atlas Lions. The team already has to cope with the unavailability of key players like Achraf Hakimi, who is suffering from a muscle injury, and Nayef Aguerd, who is injured in the hamstrings.
This black series risks disrupting the plans of the coach, who was hoping to have all his key players available for the continental event. While supporters fear last-minute changes, the hope remains that these injuries are not serious and will not affect the final preparation for the competition to be held next month in Morocco.
