CAN 2025: More scare than harm for Aguerd and Masina
Good news for the defense of the Atlas Lions. Contrary to the alarming rumors that have been circulating in recent hours, Nayef Aguerd and Adam Masina are operational. The two defenders will be available to Walid Regragui for the clash against Mali on Friday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah complex.
Sources close to the selection have formally denied the information stating their unavailability, thus reassuring the supporters after a wave of concern that arose in the aftermath of the opening match.
While the Aguerd-Masina pair is declared fit for service, the suspense remains, however, regarding the captain Romain Saïss. Forced to give up his place in the first half against the Comoros last Sunday, the central defender is still undergoing medical evaluation. The staff is awaiting the results of the detailed examinations to decide on his participation in the second day of the group stage.
On the field, the preparation continues serenely. The day after their inaugural victory (2-0), Brahim Díaz’s teammates held a training session on Monday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
The technical staff has focused on physical recovery and tactical adjustments, with the aim of maintaining the momentum of victory against a Malian team that is expected to be a tough opponent.
