Airfares Soar 33% for Popular France-Marrakech Route This Summer

Ticket prices for destinations like Marrakech and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) have respectively increased by 33% and 20% in the summer of 2022. This is revealed by an online comparator. "These two cities have seen their number of tourists explode in recent years," explains journalist Chloé Tixier present on the set of the 13 Heures de France 2, Thursday, May 5. The same observation for the price of the plane ticket between the overseas departments and abroad. "Towards the overseas departments, the ticket has increased by 13.5% in one year, 6% towards abroad, and unfortunately it should continue at least until next year," it is specified.

On the other hand, the prices of tickets for other destinations have fallen. The traveler pays the ticket for London (United Kingdom) at 79 euros in 2021 instead of 161 euros on average in 2010. Towards La Réunion, prices have fallen by 37%, towards Montreal (Canada) or Fort-de-France (Martinique) by 21%. Not only "the price of a barrel of oil has fallen", but "we are seeing more and more companies arriving on the market," says journalist Chloé Tixier.
