Soaring Bus Ticket Prices Force Moroccan Families to Cancel Eid Al Adha Travel Plans

A few days before the celebration of Eid Al Adha, many families are forced to cancel their bus trip. And for good reason, the soaring prices of tickets.
The soaring prices of tickets, a brake on bus travel? In a statement to Hespress, a passenger at the "Kamra" bus station (Rabat) who planned to go to the city of Tiznit reported that the ticket price has gone from 150 to 300 DH. This father of a family needs 1,200 DH for a round trip. The price of tickets for Marrakech has also increased. Another traveler met on the spot says that the price has gone from 80 DH to 110 DH. As for the price of tickets for the cities of Tata, Zagora and Rachidia, it is 300 DH.
This price surge has resulted in the cancellation of several trips planned by MRE families. Information confirmed by Saïd Laoufir, director of the "Kamra" bus station, who explains that the influx of travelers remains limited this year due to the rise in fuel prices. "The total of tickets sold for a bus going to Tata amounted to 15,000 DH, of which 8,500 DH for fuel, in addition to repair costs, motorways and drivers’ salaries, then permits, taxes and other expenses," said the director of a bus company.
