Air Europa focuses on Morocco and adds Tangier to its network
The Spanish airline Air Europa is no longer just looking towards Latin America. As part of a new expansion strategy towards Africa planned for 2026, the carrier will strengthen its presence in the Maghreb by adding Tangier to its map.
Air Europa is preparing its African offensive. Historically focused on the Caribbean and South America, the SkyTeam alliance member has decided to diversify its markets by relying on its Madrid-Barajas hub. And Morocco is high on the agenda in this flight plan.
Already present in Marrakech and Tunis, the Iberian company will increase its medium-haul offer to North Africa. According to the plans unveiled, Tangier will join the Air Europa network from the summer of 2026.
This opening confirms the strategic importance of the Kingdom for the company, which is betting on the combined potential of tourism and business travel between Spain and Morocco. "Africa is identified as a priority growth axis in our international development plan," said a spokesperson quoted by Air Journal.
Beyond the Maghreb, Air Europa is tackling long-haul Africa. From June 24, 2026, it will launch a direct link between Madrid and Johannesburg.
