Agadir's $590 Million Urban Development Plan Nears Approval

The urban development plan of Agadir will soon be a reality. In this perspective, the Municipal Council is mobilizing to finance the various projects.

With a budget of 5.9 billion DH signed last February in the presence of King Mohammed VI, the urban development program of the city of Agadir is on the right track. The extraordinary session of the Municipal Council, scheduled for next Thursday, will validate the use of its credit lines to ensure part of the financing of this program. In this perspective, the Municipal Council of Agadir will contract loans from the Communal Equipment Fund, for the financing of projects related to this urban development program of the city (2020-2024). But first, it is a question of mobilizing the financing. The urban municipality of Agadir should urgently find more than 1.8 billion DH as part of this program, according to Les Inspirations Eco.

Among the other items on the agenda, there is the realization of the first line of the BHNS at a cost of 1.2 billion DH. During the same session, the officials will also rule on other structuring projects. The Municipal Council will also give its approval concerning two plots of land. This is the land on which the Agadir international campsite is built, spread over more than two hectares on Mohammed V Avenue. The second land file relates to the municipal warehouse located on Kadi Ayyad Avenue in the industrial district of Agadir.

The municipal authorities will also call on other alternatives to honor their commitments by tapping into the land heritage. In this sense, the members of the municipality will also have to approve the sale of part of the municipal land classified as private municipal property. Let us recall that the Local Development Company (SDL) has important missions in the realization of the objectives. It is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the projects included in the urban development program of the city of Agadir (2020-2024).
