Agadir Approves Controversial Cable Car Project for Tourism Development

The Agadir cable car project was approved on October 7 by the city council. However, this project had been rejected 4 years ago due to the high seismic risk of its location.
This project is one of the two main components of the "Souss Camp" international camping project, launched in July 2019 in Agadir. The project will also house the "Dania Land" amusement park presented in 2016, under the name "Agadir Land" with the construction of a 1,683.57 m long and 10 m wide cable car. This project estimated at 115 million DH, will first connect the Tildi bridge to Agadir Oufella, and then to the "Dania Land" park.
The promoter, Haj Aziz Houays, the project owner and specialist in open-air hotels, who had started the development and cleaning work following the approval of the two projects by the regional investment commission in 2016, had to suspend them due to the high seismic risk of the area intended to house the two projects, as noted by the Agadir Urban Agency.
The regional council was approved by the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa Region to carry out a study on alternative sites that could accommodate the two projects. In March 2020, a new location was approved by the regional investment center, as well as the Agadir city council. The cable car project is currently being rehabilitated, reports Médias24.com.
