Africa Cup of Nations 2022: Fans Must Show Vaccination and Negative Test to Attend Matches

To attend the matches of the final phase of the AFCON 2022, scheduled for January in Cameroon, supporters will have to be fully vaccinated and present a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours or a negative antigen test of less than 24 hours.
This decision comes from the African Football Confederation (CAF), taken jointly with the Cameroonian authorities, putting an end to rumors of a new postponement of this edition, according to a statement from the organization.
"Despite this additional challenge posed by this pandemic, our AFCON must now be played. Its solemn opening ceremony is scheduled for January 9, 2022 at the Olembe Sports Complex," in Yaoundé, it was specified.
This way, CAF has responded to the European Club Association (ECA), which had threatened on Monday not to release international players for the AFCON, concerned about the health protocol of the event in the context of the pandemic. It had in particular invoked the absence at this stage of "an adapted medical and operational protocol for the tournament."
