Abandoned Ferry Linked to Morocco-Spain Route Up for Auction at €3.2 Million

The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras is preparing the public auction of the ship Boraq, moored at the Isla Verde quay since 2016, with practically no activity since then.
According to the Official State Bulletin of May 11, cited by apba.es, the base sale price is set at 3.2 million euros, slightly higher than what the company Inter Shipping spent to acquire the ship at the time. This acquisition was aimed at strengthening its fleet to participate in the Marhaba Operation that same year.
Boraq experienced a prolonged period of inactivity at the port of Tangier, requiring significant refurbishment work to put it back into service. This fast ship, of about 3,000 gross tons and 190 deadweight tons, is 72 meters long and 17.50 meters wide. It has a passenger capacity of 657 and can carry 70 vehicles.
The bid submission period runs until June 9, 2023 at 2 pm. The documents must be delivered in person to the Legal Services Department of the Port Authority.
This sale will take place on June 27 at 11 am.
