155 African Migrants Break Through Border Fence into Spanish Enclave of Ceuta

155 African migrants successfully entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on Friday, August 30, 2019, by forcing the high fence topped with razor wire.
A historic mass crossing. 155 migrants crossed the border fence at dawn, under cover of fog, a local prefecture spokesman told AFP. He explained that some had climbed the fence while others had broken one of its gates to reach Europe. According to him, these migrants are all from sub-Saharan Africa, the majority from Guinea Conakry.
According to the account of the events, the 12 civil guards who tried to intercept them were "slightly injured" by stones and sticks, while 16 migrants received treatment for injuries and cuts.
According to the spokesman, this is the first time in a year that migrants have managed to force the high fence topped with razor wire.
Geographically, Ceuta, along with Melilla, another Spanish city in northern Morocco, represents the European Union’s only land border with Africa.
