117 vehicles stolen in Canada intercepted in Spain before being sent to Morocco

The operation, carried out for months by the Risk Analysis Unit (ULAR), made up of civil guards stationed at the port of Algeciras and customs agents, made it possible to intercept these vehicles transported from Canada in containers destined for Spain in transit to Morocco "where international mafias modify them to reintroduce them to the market". The agents have stepped up controls at this port after noting an increase in the number of vehicles shipped between the two continents, reports El Faro de Ceuta.

Last April, 16 vehicles stolen in Canada had been seized and special surveillance had been put in place, "which made it possible to detect 85 other stolen vehicles all coming from the same country", it is specified. "International cooperation has played a fundamental role in these operations, in particular the civil guards at the port, who have maintained constant contact with the American and Canadian authorities, thus ensuring an effective flow of information in both directions", the authorities point out.

The seized luxury vehicles, including Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes Benz and Toyota SUVs and sports cars, have a total estimated value of more than 6.5 million euros. The vehicles have been returned to their countries of origin in order to be returned to their owners.
