Ziyech Shines in Chelsea Debut, Sets Up Werner Goal Against Brighton

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech played his first match on Saturday, August 29 against Brighton. Titled for about fifty minutes, he put in a fine performance and was involved in the goal scored in the 4th minute of play by Timo Werner.
Since his transfer in July from Ajax Amsterdam, the Moroccan midfielder has been named in the starting lineup for the first time in a friendly match against Brighton. During the first minutes of play, the Moroccan player showed great commitment in the game. Thanks to one of his goals in the 4th minute, his German teammate, striker Timo Werner, scored the only goal of the match.
This match allowed Hakim Ziyech to deliver a very good game. In a few weeks of preparation, he has assimilated the English style of play and put on a great performance on the pitch. Unfortunately, injured in the left foot, he was replaced in the 54th minute.
A bit disappointed by the equalizing goal in the 90th minute on a penalty scored by Pascal Gross, Frank Lampard nevertheless congratulated his players, including Hakim Ziyech and his teammate Timo Werner.
"He (Hakim Ziyech, ed.) has a little knock on the knee, a little twist that we will have to evaluate, I hope it’s not too serious. But in terms of performance, they were both really good," the coach added.
