Ziyech’s Dutch Homecoming: PSV Eyes Moroccan Star as Van Bommel Replacement

Is Hakim Ziyech close to a return to the Netherlands where he wrote the most beautiful pages of his football career? He could replace Ruben Van Bommel, victim of a serious injury during the clash against Ajax (2-2), last Sunday, September 21. The son of the legend Mark Van Bommel collapsed on a false step during this match. Suffering from a serious injury to his left knee, he should miss the rest of the season. According to several sources in the Netherlands, the Moroccan international appears to be an ideal replacement. Discussions would already have been initiated between the Moroccan international and PSV.

Currently, Ziyech is without a club. He amicably terminated his contract with Al Duhail, after only four months of collaboration. If the negotiations are successful, he will be able to return to the Netherlands. Moreover, the Dutch championship is no secret to him. He played for Ajax between 2016 and 2020, even under the orders of Peter Bosz, now coach at PSV. He played 165 matches and delivered very good performances before joining Chelsea in a 40 million euro transfer. Before this adventure, the 32-year-old player had played for Twente and Heerenveen, two Dutch clubs.

If he joins the Eindhoven club and starts to shine, Ziyech could be called up by Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, to participate in the next Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco 2025) with the Atlas Lions. Only good performances can motivate his return to the Moroccan selection.
