Ziyech’s Eredivisie Comeback: Former Moroccan Star Urges Dutch Elite Return
A former Moroccan international is convinced of Hakim Ziyech’s talent and believes that he "still has the level to play in the Dutch elite".
Former Moroccan international Karim El Ahmadi expresses the wish to see Hakim Ziyech return to the Netherlands. He "still has the level to play in the Dutch elite", he said in an interview with the Dutch media Sportnieuw. He believes that "a player as talented as Ziyech deserves to play at the top, especially in a championship like the Eredivisie". El Ahmadi is also surprised that no major Dutch club has yet recruited him.
Currently, Ziyech is without a club. He mutually terminated his contract with Al Duhail, after only four months of collaboration. Despite the peripherals, "Hakim remains a genius with the ball, capable of scoring from afar or delivering impossible assists. Even without being 100% physically, he can make the difference", insisted the former Atlas Lion. He sees the 32-year-old player returning to Ajax, where he wrote the beautiful pages of his football career. "I would see him in a top 3 club, why not a return to Ajax", he added.
The Dutch championship is no secret to Ziyech. He played for Ajax between 2016 and 2020, under the orders of Peter Bosz, now coach at PSV. He played 165 matches and had very good performances before joining Chelsea in a 40 million euro transfer. Before this adventure, the 32-year-old player had played for Twente and Heerenveen, two Dutch clubs.
