Yves Saint-Laurent's Moroccan Villa Reopens as Luxury Hotel in Tangier

Bought in 1999 by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the Villa Mabrouka (house of luck), located near the Kasbah and the Medina of Tangier, has become a luxury hotel. The magnificent setting consists of 12 rooms and suites, a dream garden, two swimming pools and three restaurants.

Lovers of Morocco, whom they visited many times, Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé decided in 1999 to buy the Villa Mabrouk in Tangier to spend their summer vacations there and entrusted the interior decoration to the architect Jacques Grange. After the death of the French designer and his partner, the property was bought by the English designer Jasper Conran who, after work that lasted nearly four years, transformed it into a luxury hotel, reports ABC.

The hotel opened its doors this summer. Designed according to the English architecture of the 1940s, it features large windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors and offers only 12 rooms and suites, including the 68-square-meter Marrakech suite, with a private terrace and decorated in green, yellow and blue, Yves Saint-Laurent’s favorite colors, which occupied this room. It also has a large bed, a marble bathroom with French chandeliers from the 1930s. A night in this suite costs 1,300 euros.

The villa also includes a garden designed by the famous landscape architect Madison Cox, two swimming pools, three restaurants serving Mediterranean cuisine, a rooftop terrace and a hammam.
