Yvelines: Caught in the act of burglary, he is permanently expelled from France

The Versailles court did not believe the story of the innocent rag-and-bone man. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the justice system sealed the fate of this 30-year-old man, arrested two days earlier in Médan for a failed break-in. The defendant, whose real identity remains unclear as he has used many false names in the past, appeared in the dock under the first name of Azzedine, reports Actu.fr.

The events took place on December 14, shortly before 5 p.m. The individual entered the garden of a house by opening the gate, before attempting to force the garage door, which was locked. What he did not know was that the homeowner was present and was watching the scene live on his smartphone thanks to his video surveillance system. The victim discreetly followed the intruders - an accomplice was acting as a lookout in the street - while guiding the police, with visual evidence to support it.

Facing the judges, the defendant tried to minimize his act, swearing he had never stolen in his life. He explained that he had made the trip from Mantes-la-Jolie simply to retrieve abandoned objects, such as microwaves, and had just "stuck his head" into the property out of curiosity. A version contradicted by the images and firmly reframed by the president of the court, who reminded him that curiosity does not give any right to violate a home.

Feeling the noose tightening, the thirty-year-old made a last-ditch negotiation, offering to return to live in Spain if he was given a chance. A request ignored by the court, which handed down a sentence of six months’ immediate imprisonment. The sentence is doubled by a permanent ban from French territory.
