Young Moroccan Porter Dies After Fall Near Spanish Enclave of Ceuta

Originally from Fnideq, Youssef Sedrawi, a young porter, died on Saturday, October 5th, from his injuries, after two days in a coma.
Waiting his turn to collect goods, the 20-year-old porter fell on one of the adjacent slopes. This was followed by a coma that lasted two days, reports El faro de Ceuta.
According to the same media, the victim would have suffered serious injuries to different parts of his body.
A fruit seller, the deceased had just started porterage to support his family, whose economic situation was deteriorating more and more, notes the same source, which also adds that he was buried last Sunday, in the presence of his relatives and friends.
This latest death of a porter revives the debate on safety in this profession, where death decimates at all times.
Youssef’s death is another life that weighs on the porterage activity, through which thousands of Moroccan citizens try to earn a living by crossing goods across the border.
A month ago, a female porter also lost her life while waiting for her ticket to enter Sebta, the Spanish website recalls.
