Young Moroccan, 25, Dies from COVID-19 in Fez with No Underlying Conditions

The spiritual capital of the kingdom recorded on Monday the death of a young man who occurred at the Covid-19 treatment center in the city.
This new death, which adds to the long existing list, has a particular character due to the age of the deceased, as well as the absence of any underlying conditions that could have classified him in the category of vulnerable individuals.
One of the witnesses in Fez told L’Économiste that the young man, who represents the youngest victim of the coronavirus that the spiritual capital has counted to date (25 years old), "did not have any underlying health problems". For his part, Dr. Mounir Mikou, an anesthesiologist, said that "some young and healthy people can suffer severely from this disease and even die from it". And to add that "two young people aged 26 and 35 died last week from this disease in Tangier".
So many unfortunate events that make it possible to insist on the strict observance of barrier measures, the only alternative to avoid harm, pending the availability of a vaccine. In this regard, another doctor deplored "the reckless behavior of people who gather by the hundreds, every evening, in the medina, Jnanate, Ben Debbab, and in the new city on the side of the Allal Benabdellah, Hassan II, and Mohammed VI avenues, not respecting any protection measure against Covid-19," reports the same source.
It should be remembered that the new coronavirus spares no one. However, the elderly as well as people suffering from pre-existing conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more exposed to this virus. Hence the need for everyone to respect the measures indicated by the WHO, while observing "good hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene," the same newspaper indicates.
