New York Penthouse with Moroccan Hammam Sells for Record $74.34 Million

For sale, a sumptuous apartment with a Moroccan hammam located on the 20th floor of the historic Crown Building (formerly known as the Heckscher Building) in New York has reached a record price.

$74.34 million. This is the record price reached by Jala Penthouse, an apartment in the Crown Building, a mixed-use property designed by Warren and Wetmore and completed in 1921. Located on 57th Street and 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York, this property belonged to the former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos. It has been converted into the Aman New York Hotel & Residences.

Jala Penthouse is one of the 22 ultra-luxurious residences in the new Aman New York. The interiors were designed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston to pay tribute to the architecture of the Crown Building. "All units include integrated security and telecommunications systems, up to three fireplaces and Gaggenau kitchen appliances, while the apartment itself includes numerous closets, a private elevator lobby and a high-ceilinged gallery perfect for displaying a prized art collection," details Dirt.

This spectacular apartment also includes: 24/7 concierge service; a 14th floor lounge with a piano bar and panoramic terrace; a private club and cigar lounge; several restaurants; a three-story spa with hydrotherapy facilities, a Russian Banya and a Moroccan hammam, etc. Jala Penthouse was negotiated by Patricia Vance of the real estate agency Douglas Elliman. The identity of the buyer has not yet been revealed.
