17-Year-Old Moroccan Sensation Scores Brace in Monaco Debut, Joins Ligue 1 Record Books

At just 17 years old, young Moroccan Eliesse Ben Seghir is breaking records in Ligue 1. For his very first match, the attacking midfielder of AS Monaco caused a surprise by scoring a brace against Auxerre on Wednesday, December 28, giving his club the victory (3-2). He is now among the youngest goalscorers in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.
The native of Gassin Eliesse Ben Seghir, 17, of Moroccan origin, is already making football lovers dream. On Wednesday, he came on at halftime of the match between AS Monaco and AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1, replacing Wissam Ben Yedder, and made his mark on the public. Quickly, he made an impression. He scored a brace (58th, 85th), thus allowing ASM to win 3-2.
At 17 years and 315 days, number 44 becomes the second youngest player to score a brace for Monaco in Ligue 1, behind Kylian Mbappé: 17 years and 62 days (on 20/02/2016, against Troyes), Pietro Pellegri: 17 years and 162 days (on 26/08/2018, against Bordeaux), Thierry Henry against Lens in 1995 (17 years and 255 days) and Benoît Badiashile: 17 years and 296 days (on 16/01/2019, against Nice). Ben Seghir also becomes the youngest player to score a brace in his Ligue 1 debut in the last 75 years and the 1st over the period to achieve this performance before his 18th birthday.
