11-Year-Old Moroccan Prodigy Revolutionizes Science Education on YouTube

At only 11 years old, Mehdi El Hichou is a science communicator. On his YouTube channel "Ciencia en Casa" (Science at Home), the little boy of Moroccan origin living in Ceuta shares knowledge that is difficult to understand for a child his age.
Mehdi is a genius. A 5th grade student at the San Daniel College in Ceuta, he uses his great intellectual abilities to explore science and graphics. The little boy shares his knowledge with the world on his YouTube channel "Ciencia en Casa". The eldest of three children, Mehdi is an eternal curious. "I started getting interested in science when I was 7 or 8 years old. I found physics videos on YouTube and I liked them more and more," he confides to El Faro de Ceuta.
Since then, his passion for science has only grown. His areas of interest: physics, chemistry and biology. Mehdi wants to understand everything, from the movements of the stars to the composition of materials and the functioning of living beings. "Biology is the science of nature, and I like chemistry because it explains the molecules and the composition of many things," he explains.
It was on the advice of his father that the 11-year-old middle school student decided to open his YouTube channel to share his knowledge. Before each video, Mehdi does research on the subject to be addressed, watches instructive videos and then asks ChatGPT to help him create a summary that he makes his own. "That way, I can change things in the middle of the video and do it my own way," he details. His father records him in his room and edits the videos, which last between 2 and 5 minutes.
Mehdi’s family is very proud of him. The boy also inspires admiration in his classmates. "They ask the teacher to play my videos. They tell me they’re very cool and that I’m very smart. Sometimes I’m a little embarrassed," he says. Even during the holidays, Mehdi doesn’t change his habits. After breakfast, he turns on his computer to do research and make a new video for his YouTube channel. His next goal is to learn video editing.
