Yassir Zabiri, top scorer and world champion, interests a major French club
Stade Rennais has concluded the transfer of their striker Kader Meité to Al-Hilal for over 30 million euros. To replace him, the Breton club is interested in Moroccan Yassir Zabiri, recent U20 World Cup champion in Chile.
The Rennes club has finalized one of the operations of this end of the winter transfer window by ceding its 18-year-old prodigy to the Saudi club. This move should bring the Breton club a sum of more than 30 million euros, including bonuses, but leaves an offensive void that the management is now seeking to fill quickly.
To make up for this departure, Rennes has set its sights on Yassir Zabiri, the 20-year-old striker playing at Famalicao, reports Footmercato. The young striker, endowed with a "very good left foot", is closely followed by Rennes’ recruitment cell, which could make a concrete offer before the transfer market closes.
Zabiri has recently emerged as one of the sensations of world football during Morocco’s triumph at the U20 World Cup. Top scorer of the competition with five goals and one assist, he notably made an impression by scoring a decisive brace in the final won against Argentina (2-0).
Since his return to Portugal, the young prodigy has confirmed his new status in the first division. Buoyed by his performances, Zabiri had publicly expressed his ambition to join the national team.
