World Bank Lends $100 Million for Casablanca Tramway Expansion Project

The Casablanca-Settat region will sign, on Thursday, January 23, a loan agreement of 100 million dollars with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of the World Bank, to finance the construction of lines 3 and 4 of the Casablanca tramway.
In addition to the construction of these two new lines of the Casablanca tramway, the construction of modern rural roads of about 2,000 kilometers in the region surrounding the economic city is also planned.
With a length of 12.5 kilometers, and a total of 20 stations, the route of the new tramway will cross very dense neighborhoods and areas of economic and commercial activity, namely the Lalla Meriem neighborhood, the Sbata, Garage Allal and Derb Omar neighborhoods, in addition to the Casa Port station.
