World Bank to Grant Morocco $180 Million Loan for Drought Resilience and Irrigation

The World Bank is expected to grant a $180 million loan to Morocco by the end of the month to support a program for the resilience and sustainability of irrigation water.
This aid, which comes in a context of drought, aims to improve the quality of irrigation services and agricultural advice as well as access to modern irrigation technologies.
More specifically, the financing will take into account 3 main axes, the first being the strengthening of water governance in agriculture which aims to improve the water allocation process and the technical knowledge of farmers.
The second component takes into account the modernization of irrigation and drainage services, and consists of financing advisory services and works at the level of Tadla, Souss Massa and Chtouka.
