World Bank Approves $500 Million Loan to Boost Morocco’s Healthcare and Social Programs

The World Bank has this week granted a new $500 million loan to Morocco, to support its human capital strengthening program.
This new loan is the first in a series of three financings in support of a government reform program that is also benefiting, in parallel, from the support of other development partners, according to a statement from the international financial institution.
The objective is to strengthen the health system by expanding and deepening health insurance, particularly for vulnerable people; by increasing the number of health professionals; and by adapting care services to better respond to health risks related to climate change, it is specified.
This financing will also gradually introduce an adaptive family allowance system for children, expand the pension system coverage, and improve protection against extreme weather events, adds the same source.
