World Bank Approves $300 Million Loan to Modernize Morocco’s Public Sector

The World Bank’s Board of Directors granted a new loan to Morocco on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. This financing will be used to develop the public sector.
It is a $300 million loan to the Ministry of Finance, for the financing of "a new reform program for the Moroccan public sector". This amount will also accelerate administrative reform, strengthen the performance and transparency of core government operations, as indicated in July 2020.
The achievement of this objective will depend on the results of the programs already in place, such as the National Administrative Reform Plan (PNRA, 2018-2021), the National Plan for the Dematerialization of Public Procurement, the 2017-2021 Strategic Action Plan of the Directorate General of Taxes and the General Orientation Note for the Development of Digital 2025. The interest of these sectoral strategies, some of which are already coming to an end and which the government plans to renew, is to facilitate the implementation of the public sector reform.
It should be noted that among the priority activities of the program is the acceleration of administrative reform.
