Woman Sentenced to Prison for Assaulting Customs Officer at Morocco-Spain Border

The young woman who had slapped a customs officer last November at Bab Sebta was sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams for humiliating a sworn agent in the exercise of his duties. This is the verdict handed down by the court of first instance in Tetouan.
The sentence was finally handed down after six hearings that lasted two months. In November 2019, the young woman had slapped the customs officer at Bab Sebta on the grounds that he had mistreated her disabled father. The video of the incident had been posted on social media.
According to the facts, the incident occurred during a routine patrol by Moroccan customs officers. They caught a man in a wheelchair distributing contraband goods. This is how they seized a large quantity of fabrics belonging to the old man. In the aftermath, the daughter of the alleged smuggler slapped one of the customs officers.
Detained in the local prison in Tetouan, the young woman has just been sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams.
