Woman Attempts Self-Immolation at Marrakech Airport After Missing Flight

A 37-year-old woman took the security services by surprise by attempting to set herself on fire inside the Marrakech-Menara International Airport.
The incident took place on Sunday morning in the airport’s reception hall, according to the statement of the General Directorate of National Security, which specifies that an investigation has been opened by the prefectural judicial police service.
The young woman was apprehended by the national security elements, immediately after she had sprayed herself with a flammable liquid in an attempt to set fire to her body.
According to the DGSN statement, the suicide attempt would be motivated by her delay with respect to a domestic flight that the woman had intended to take in the morning.
A judicial investigation has been opened by the police services under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to determine the exact circumstances of this case.
