Why Mohamed Ouahbi said "no" to Hakim Ziyech
The new national coach of Morocco, Mohamed Ouahbi, explained the exclusion of Hakim Ziyech from his list. He claims to prioritize physical condition and technical performance rather than the reputation of players to compose his squad.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the coach firmly reiterated his selection criteria. To hope to represent the Lions, an impeccable athletic preparation and solid performances during matches and training sessions are required. "I chose the list based on the players who are the most ready, whether in terms of performance or physical condition," he justified.

The coach specified that he was closely monitoring about sixty footballers to build his group, ensuring that his current selection presents a balance in terms of tactical characteristics. Refusing to dwell on individual cases, he stressed: "We cannot focus on a single player, we are monitoring everyone to ensure that our choices are balanced and objective."

However, this exclusion is not definitive with a view to the 2026 World Cup. The coach maintained that the coming months will be decisive. "There is still time before the World Cup; the best will come, and the one who proves himself during the upcoming period will have his place in the team," he concluded.
