Who are the Moroccan billionaires who are getting richer the fastest this year?

The Benjelloun and Akhannouch families are entering the top of the Forbes Middle East 2026 ranking for the largest wealth increases. Their respective fortunes now reach $1.9 and $1.6 billion.

Othman Benjelloun and his relatives are recording the third largest growth in the region with a gain of $300 million over the past ten months. This momentum is mainly explained by the stock market performance of Bank of Africa-BMCE Group, whose share price has risen by 9.5% to 213 dirhams as of January 28, 2026. In addition to his pan-African banking activities, the richest businessman in the Kingdom is consolidating his assets through the insurance company RMA and his holding company FinanceCom, which holds stakes in the telecommunications sector.

For his part, Aziz Akhannouch shares the fifth place among the biggest winners with an increase of $100 million. At the head of the powerful Akwa group, a leader in energy and chemicals, the Moroccan Prime Minister draws the bulk of his financial assets from it. Although the group maintains a solid position, some of its listed subsidiaries, such as Afriquia Gaz and Maghreb Oxygène, have recorded stock market declines during the monitoring period.

At the regional level, seven Arab families have accumulated an additional $3.4 billion, bringing their total wealth to over $32 billion. While the Al Thani family of Qatar dominates the ranking of increases with a gain of $1.4 billion, the Mikati and Hariri dynasties of Lebanon also occupy the top of the table.
