WHO Resumes Hydroxychloroquine Trials for COVID-19 Treatment

Clinical trials on hydroxychloroquine are authorized again. This is the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO), after suspending this coronavirus treatment protocol about ten days ago.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reversed its decision to "temporarily" suspend all clinical trials on hydroxychloroquine. During a virtual press conference held on Wednesday, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the WHO, justified the organization’s turnaround on the issue.
According to his remarks, the decision is the result of a reflection by the members of the Safety and Monitoring Committee, who, after analyzing the available data on mortality, deemed it unnecessary "to modify the protocol" of the clinical trials.
The news is applauded by those who, based on results, attest to the effectiveness of this treatment protocol, and condemned by its detractors.
To recall, the suspension decision had sparked a flood of reactions and comments from scientists and states that had adopted this coronavirus treatment protocol. It followed the publication, in the medical journal The Lancet, of a study presenting this treatment as "ineffective and even dangerous".
