Western Sahara’s Polisario Front Cuts Ties with Spain Over Morocco Stance

The Polisario Front has decided to suspend its contacts with the Spanish government, after the visit on Thursday of Pedro Sanchez to Rabat and the publication of the joint declaration that sanctioned his meeting with King Mohammed VI.
In a statement published this Sunday, the delegation of the Polisario Front for Spain announced the decision of the separatist movement to distance itself from the Spanish government and its leader, Pedro Sanchez, after his support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara, which violates "international law and the inalienable rights of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence".

The Polisario Front recalled that the responsibilities of the Spanish State, "the administering power of the Sahara", towards the Sahrawi people and the United Nations are "imprescriptible", specifying that its decision to suspend contacts with Spain will last as long as it does not support the United Nations resolutions "which recognize the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination".
