West Ham’s Nayef Aguerd Exits Europa League Match with Ankle Injury

Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd was substituted due to injury before the end of the first half of the return leg against Bayer Leverkusen (1-1) in the Europa League quarter-finals.
Another setback for Nayef Aguerd. As he is likely to leave West Ham, he was injured on Thursday during the return leg of the Europa League quarter-finals between his club and Bayer Leverkusen, which ended in a draw (1-1). The ball hit his ankle before the end of the first half. He was lying on the pitch before having to leave the stadium. The Moroccan international is suffering from intense pain, reveals La BBC. He will have to undergo the necessary medical examinations.
West Ham hopes the medical examination results will be reassuring. Otherwise, this injury could keep the 28-year-old player off the pitch. He could no longer play for the season. He could also miss the Atlas Lions training camp in preparation for the matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled in June as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
