Wealthy Moroccans Flee Cities for Rural Estates During COVID-19 Lockdown

While the poor have remained at home during this period of confinement imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the kingdom, the rich have preferred to live in their equipped farms, far from the major Moroccan cities.
Modest families are confined to their homes in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Fez and others, while the rich are rushing to the countryside, reports Assabah, which mentions a reverse exodus. This exodus is so remarkable that luxury cars have disappeared from the streets of these cities, leaving room for the few civil servant cars and two-wheeled vehicles.
In the eyes of the rich, farms are safe places to protect themselves from the coronavirus, which does not discriminate between the rich and the poor, the ruler and the ruled, the homeless and the real estate developer, the entrepreneur and the worker.
These rich people never imagined having to leave, overnight, their villas and the big cities. The rapid spread of the coronavirus would not have left them any other choice. However, they do not fail to express their solidarity with their poor relatives, in particular by paying the zakate.
