UK Warns Citizens Against Travel to Morocco and 17 Other Middle East Countries Amid Regional Tensions

The United Kingdom has placed several countries including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on the list of destinations that its nationals should avoid due to the risk of escalation of the conflict between the Hebrew state and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The Foreign Office (UK Foreign Ministry) has advised British vacationers and tourists to avoid traveling to 18 countries, namely: Bahrain, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, the occupied Palestinian territories, Qatar, Oman, Morocco, Libya, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Lebanon. "The ongoing hostilities between Israel and Lebanon could escalate rapidly and pose risks across the region," warns the Foreign Office.
Israel continues to bomb Lebanon after killing Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah. An Israeli air strike against a house in the town of Ain, in the Bekaa Valley, east of Lebanon, killed 11 people earlier on Sunday, the official Lebanese news agency reported. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, six people were killed and 91 injured in the particularly violent Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, the stronghold of Hezbollah.
More than 1,000 people have been killed in Lebanon and more than 6,000 injured as a result of the Israeli attacks over the past two weeks, the Health Ministry said. Nearly a million people could have been displaced by the Israeli strikes on Lebanon, the largest population displacement in the country’s history, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said at a press conference on Sunday.
The Foreign Office urges British vacationers and tourists to follow travel advice and other media, "as the situation is evolving rapidly." And to add: "Follow and contact the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, ed.) travel service on X, Facebook and Instagram. You can also receive email notifications when these travel advisories are updated. Read FCDO advice if you are affected by a crisis abroad."
