VOX Questions Dual Nationality of Ceuta Athletes Amid Spanish-Moroccan Tensions

The far-right party VOX is going to question the government on the issue of dual nationality of the inhabitants of Ceuta and on the awarding of the prize for the best Ceuti athlete of the year 2021 to Hamza Maimón, who has played for the Moroccan national futsal team.
The political party is concerned to see more and more athletes born in Ceuta join the Moroccan national teams, which, according to the party, calls into question their attachment to the Spanish nation.
Thus, it is asking the Popular Party government to take a stand on the dual nationality of the Ceutis which, although not recognized by the bilateral agreements between the two countries, is becoming more and more common.
VOX also wants to alert the government to the Moroccan national team’s recruitment policy, which would go against the defense of the Spanish identity of the city.
