Volotea Cuts 700 Flights at Lille, Including Morocco Routes
Moroccan destinations are among the routes affected by cuts to Volotea’s winter schedule at Lille. The Spanish airline is pulling flights through spring 2027 as it negotiates with creditors and prepares to shrink its fleet.

At Lille-Lesquin, Volotea’s schedule cuts number in the hundreds. Around 700 flights to or from the airport are due to be cancelled between October 1 and spring 2027, according to figures reported by La Voix du Nord. Morocco is among the countries affected, along with Spain, Greece, Turkey and Italy.
Nearly 100,000 passengers could be affected across all these destinations. Passengers whose flights are cancelled are offered a booking change at no extra cost or a full refund.
Volotea says it selects flights for removal based on occupancy and expected demand during the winter months. It cites high fuel prices, as well as geopolitical and operational instability.
The schedule will retain some routes during the All Saints’ Day and Christmas holidays. In its response sent to France 3 in early October, the airline described these cancellations as the final adjustments planned for 2026.
From 44 aircraft to around 30
In Barcelona, Volotea is also negotiating its financial restructuring. It has initiated a so-called “preconcurso” procedure before Commercial Court No. 9, a mechanism that allows talks with creditors to begin in search of an agreement. The Europa Press news agency confirmed the move on September 30.
The plan calls for reducing the fleet from 44 aircraft to 30–35. Volotea is working with its financial partners and Spain’s public industrial holding company, SEPI, to conclude negotiations in December. It is also preparing a capital increase.
Fuel is a major factor in the matter: the group estimates its impact at around 150 million euros. In the spring, it tried to pass on the increase to passengers with a surcharge demanded after the ticket had been purchased, before abandoning the policy for new bookings from June 10.
At Bordeaux-Mérignac, Volotea is expected to operate 35% fewer flights in the fourth quarter than during the same period in 2025. Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife South, Bari, Naples, Prague, Rome and Charleroi are among the destinations temporarily removed from the schedule.
At Brest-Bretagne, the reduction is expected to reach 30% this quarter. The base is set to go into “hibernation” for the winter; routes to Tenerife and Lanzarote have disappeared from the schedule.
