Virginia Declares June 9 "Morocco Day" to Honor Moroccan-American Culture

On June 9 of each year, Moroccan Americans will be able to celebrate "Morocco Day". They have just obtained official recognition from the local authorities of the city of Alexandria in the State of Virginia.

The same initiative had been undertaken by Moroccan Americans in the American capital, Washington D.C., where "Morocco Day" is celebrated on March 29 of each year.

The action of Moroccan nationals in the United States aims to make Morocco known through its cultural wealth, by opening a dialogue between decision-makers on both sides, primarily on the economic level, in addition to the use of the American experience in the context of regionalization.

The first "Morocco Day", scheduled for this June 9, will see the celebration of Moroccan music, particularly Gnaoua, in order to better promote Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. To celebrate this new Moroccan day, the Moroccan artist Nouaman Lahlou hosted an evening yesterday, June 8.
