Violent Clashes Between Soccer Ultras in Casablanca Lead to Multiple Arrests

About ten people, including two minors, were arrested for their involvement in clashes between ultra-fans of football clubs that took place in recent days in Casablanca.
The newspaper Al Akhbar describes clashes marked by stone throwing and knife fights. These incidents, which occurred on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in the Hay Moulay Rachid neighborhood, caused extensive material damage. Dozens of vehicles were vandalized, as were many shops.
Faced with the distress of the residents, the police patrols invested the premises early Wednesday morning, arresting eight individuals, including two minors. According to the newspaper, they risk prosecution for possession of a bladed weapon, property damage, violence or endangering the lives of others. According to the police, they belong to factions of football club supporters.
Such scenes are common since the authorities decided to deprive supporters of football matches due to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
