Violent Clashes Erupt in Spanish Town as Tensions Rise Over Immigration

The town of Torre Pacheco (Murcia) was the scene of violent clashes between police and Moroccans on Friday, according to police sources and witnesses.
Witnesses called emergency services to report acts of rare violence. The Moroccans are said to have even assaulted a minor, they report. A local police officer and a man were injured in these violent clashes, during which several parked vehicles were damaged, according to sources close to the case at La Opinion de Malaga.
These incidents follow the assault on Friday of a Spanish retiree by an undocumented individual, presumed to be Moroccan. The police made no arrests. According to police sources, an arrest could exacerbate tensions.
On Saturday, another demonstration was organized, peacefully. "Stop the insecurity", "Stop the invasion", "Stop the savages", "Deport the killers", could be read among other slogans on the placards signed by Revuelta, a youth organization supported by the far-right party Vox.
