Violent Clashes Erupt in Moroccan City as Student Protest Turns Chaotic, Police Injured

The city of Errachidia experienced a very agitated day yesterday with clashes between students and police forces. Many were injured, including police officers.
The origin of these clashes was the ban by the local authorities on a student demonstration in support of striking teachers and especially access to the city center. This was followed by stone throwing by the students, injuring several police officers.
According to local sources cited by the website Alyaoum24, the police arrested several students as well as local residents who had joined the demonstration. It took, according to the same sources, until the evening to find a semblance of calm.
