Violent Clashes Erupt Between Migrant Groups at Ceuta Detention Center

The Moroccans of the Temporary Stay Center for Migrants in Ceuta (CETI) denounced the violent clashes recorded on Wednesday between different groups of sub-Saharan and Algerian migrants.

Moroccans were collateral victims of the clashes that occurred on Wednesday between Algerians and Sub-Saharans, say some of them who requested anonymity to El Faro de Ceuta. These acts of violence come just a month after the clashes between different groups of Sub-Saharan Africans that caused serious material damage to the CETI as well as the injury of a Moroccan.

One of the complainants, a 21-year-old Moroccan woman and mother of a 13-month-old daughter, who arrived in Ceuta in the wave of May 17 and 18, denounced the constant harassment and intimidation that Moroccan women are victims of from men in the center. She confides that they have tried in vain to alert the management of the center so that measures are taken to ensure their protection. Another complainant fears for the safety of the children in the center, as they risk being injured during these acts of violence perpetrated, according to him, by sub-Saharan Africans.

If this "dangerous" situation persists, there will be a death sooner or later, fears another Moroccan from the center who also deplores the conditions of food delivery in the center.

The Moroccan migrants of the CETI also blame the center authorities for their negligence in implementing the required health protocols in this period of health crisis, in particular the carrying out of PCR tests and the confinement of positive cases.
