Via Outlets to Invest €17.5M in Seville Shopping Center Expansion, Targeting Moroccan Tourists

Dutch asset manager Via Outlets will invest 17.5 million euros to expand its shopping center in Seville, located near the airport, which is very popular with Moroccans.
Via Outlets intends to transform this center into the "most exciting premium commercial space in Andalusia," according to its commercial director in Spain, David Kervyn. This extension will give a new face to the current commercial area, with the arrival of 17 new national and international operators. The project, designed by L35 Architects, aims to increase the center’s capacity by nearly 20%, which will be able to accommodate 80 stores on a total area of 18,396.6 square meters.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the last quarter of 2023. The project will generate 150 direct jobs and contribute as much as possible to the revitalization of the regional economy, Kervyn assured, recalling that Via Outlet operates another shopping center in Majorca, Spain and two others in Portugal, in Porto and Lisbon. In total, the group is present in 9 countries where it has opened 11 centers and more than 1,100 stores.
Seville is a popular urban destination, as it has shown over the past five years, note the group’s managers who are convinced they have made the right choice with Seville "whose tourist influx is rising thanks to the improvement of air connectivity and the success of its tourism promotion." In 2019, Via Outlets recorded its best year in terms of global sales and attendance, with over 1.160 billion euros and a growth of nearly 9% compared to the previous year.
The Seville center reached 2 million visitors in 2019. "Our forecast is now positive, as we expect flows similar to those of 2019," they explain, stressing that Moroccan customers have contributed strongly to this result before the pandemic.
