Veteran Nabil Dirar Set to Captain Morocco in Friendly Against Burkina Faso

Moroccan international Nabil Dirar is poised to wear the captain’s armband of the national team on Friday, September 6, during the friendly match between the Atlas Lions and Burkina Faso at the Grand Stadium in Marrakech.
This choice can be made in the absence of Mehdi Benatia, injured, and due to the end of the international careers of the duo Karim El Ahmadi-Mbarek Boussoufa.
Now the elder of the Atlas Lions, following the absence of these players, the right-back of the Turkish club Fenerbahçe shone last season. Born in Casablanca, he played as a U23 international under the leadership of Fethi Jamal during the 2008 Beijing Olympics qualifiers. Dirar’s first international test was a success in his first match against Mauritania in 2008.
Since this conclusive trial, Dirar, now 33 years old, has participated in the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 World Cup.
