Veteran Moroccan Journalist Abdellah Stouky Dies at 76

The dean of the Moroccan press, Abdellah Stouky, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Rabat following a long illness. He was 76 years old.
Abdellah Stouky passed away on Tuesday, July 12 in a Rabat clinic at the age of 76. The deceased was known on the media landscape. He worked for several media outlets in the 1970s: the magazines Souffles - founded by the writer Abdellatif Laâbi - and Lamalif, created by the journalist and writer Zakya Daoud, the newspaper Al Maghrib, the daily Al Mithaq, founded by the Rassemblement national des indépendants (RNI) and the news agency MAP, etc. He also served at the Ministry of Communication. On the associative side, the deceased chaired the International Union of the French-speaking Press.
Since the announcement of his death, testimonies have been pouring in from all sides. "If Abdellah Stouky, the late, was an essential man in Moroccan journalistic and cultural life. He has left a lasting imprint with his talent, his flamboyance and his vast culture. Several generations of media professionals owe him a debt. At a crucial moment in the political life of our country, he gave visibility, influence and credibility to our profession. Through his professional action, he consolidated the status of journalist to make him an actor of pluralism and democracy in Morocco. We will not forget him!" testified Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, the current general director of the MAP agency.
