Vaccine Expert: COVID-19 Immunization Key to Ending Global Health Crisis

Moulay Said Afif, president of the National Federation of Health (FNS), says that "the only solution to the coronavirus pandemic is to adopt the vaccine, which would put an end to the health emergency the world is living in today."
"There is no effective treatment against Covid-19. The only way to fight this virus is vaccination, which is supervised by the kingdom’s scientific and technical committee," the specialist said during the webinar organized by Hespress. According to him, it is impossible to impose a total and permanent lockdown. This is what has, he explained, pushed countries to fight to vaccinate their citizens as quickly as possible, in order to establish collective immunity.
According to the pediatrician, collective immunity is a policy that large countries, including the United Kingdom, have not been able to implement due to the limitation of the health system, which has led it to return to confinement. Focusing on the situation in the kingdom, the specialist explained that the non-compliance with precautionary measures and preventive conditions justifies the increase in Covid-19 contamination cases.
As an example, he mentions the case of Casablanca, which has recorded a dizzying increase in confirmed cases since the easing of containment measures in July, or due to the density of its population and its economic dynamism. "The figures that frighten the health system are the statistics of patients in intensive care and intensive care units, after beds have become extremely scarce in some cities, Casablanca at the top of the list. This explains the targeting of vulnerable categories of society by the competent authorities in the Covid-19 vaccination process," says Dr. Afif.
