Morocco Pushes Vaccination as Key to Ending COVID-19 Pandemic

Like other countries, Morocco is working to find a definitive solution to the fight against Covid-19. Vaccination is the only way to counter this pandemic and restore the normal course of life, according to the president of the national vaccination technical committee, Moulay Tahar Alaoui.
During the meeting of the national vaccination technical committee, initiated as part of the launch of the next vaccination campaign, the committee chairman noted that Morocco has already succeeded in demonstrating the effectiveness of vaccination for several decades, particularly in its fight against infant mortality. For the committee president, only the vaccine will allow the population to achieve collective immunity.
According to Moulay Tahar Alaoui, the anti-Covid-19 vaccine aims to increase the body’s resistance to this virus. According to him, the vaccine "is not a medicine", but a prevention against the disease. The head of the national vaccination technical committee recalls the need to respect the health measures during the vaccination campaign, namely the wearing of a protective mask, hand washing with soap or social distancing.
Present at this meeting, the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb assured that the anti-Covid-19 vaccine is not mandatory, while insisting that only citizen participation could guarantee herd immunity.
